Wallingford Pub regatta, Saturday 11th September, 2004
This year's Pub Regatta will be held at Riverside Meadows, next to Wallingford Old Bridge. It is going to be the biggest and best yet.
The draw has been made!!!
Racing will start at 9:30am prompt. Take a look at the
draw
to see what time your first race is scheduled. Please make sure that you and your team arrive at least 45 minutes before your race and that you register with race control at least 30 minutes before the start of your race. Thank you
Prizes
include 'pots' (engraved pewter tankards) for the winners of each category. The company or club whose beginner crews are the most successful are awarded a painted oar to keep, and the shield is awarded for one year to the most successful company or club in the amateur category.
We also run a
12 week beginners course
where budding champion rowers can improve their skills and eventually join the club's novice squad. The Clubs main recruitment is through the annual Pub Regatta and many rowers who have completed the course have gone on to compete successfully at prestigous rowing events such as Henley Royal Regatta, Women's Henley and the National Rowing Championships.
On the day, there will be plenty to do in addition to the racing; we will have a barbecue, raffle, Wallingford's first ever rubber duck river race, rowing machine competition, all day bar and cake stall, bouncy castle and lots more!! So please bring along friends and relatives to support as there will be plenty for them to do and see in and around the event.
